To apply for an extension of your visiting visa, you must apply for a Visitor Record. It is the visitor record that shows your status as a visitor in Canada, and it is through the visitor record that your stay can be extended beyond the original date in your visa. Your visitor record will carry the new date you’re expected to leave the country. You can apply for a visitor record if:
- You are holding a visiting visa and want to extend your stay,
- You hold a study permit and want to change it to a visitor record, or
- You hold a work permit and want to change it to a visitor record.
Irrespective of how you entered Saskatchewan – whether with a visitor visa, electronic travel authorization (eTA) or another document – if you want to extend your stay, you must apply for a visitor record.
